"As a plus, random little girls might hit on you"

My hair is stick straight and a couple inches past my shoulders. And I am bored. I used to have total hair OCD, wanting a new cut every few weeks, but never really liking anything that I came up with. Finally, I just decided to give up, and let it grow, with the only trims my own, DIY fringe-cuts that may or may not have all taken place at 11:30 at night. Besides the point.

But lately, I've been wanting to go short. Boy short. I'm not totally convinced that I have the facial features to pull it off, and the last thing I want is to have to compensate by wearing copious amounts of eye makeup and skirts lest I'm actually mistaken for a guy. And it doesn't help that I already dress like my father. We've discussed this before. But honestly, what can you say when tempted with these lovely styles?

And of course, we can't forget the ubiquitous Agyness Dean:

Although when I mentioned my hair dilemma to my sister, she suggested something more along the lines of this:

Creds to mylifetime.com, gabalnara.com, and rasysa.com

And to be honest, I wasn't quite sure what to say to that. Except that any and all psychological trauma that I will suffer as an adult will be entirely her fault. True story.

Shutterbug

How I wish I could take photos like this:

Which is why I have resolved to get a Holga 120N as soon as possible.

Thanks,

My Face is Young, but My Soul is Oh So Very Old

Sporting a neatly buttoned shirt beneath a warm knit cardigan and classic blazer, I lazily slip on a pre-knotted tie, tightening it as I adjust it beneath my collar. Arriving downstairs, I catch my father blearily rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he nearly stumbles into me. His vision seeming to finally focus, he sneezes once and swipes at his eyes again.

"Oh," he says, glancing up and down at my outfit. "I was going to wear that too." Then he chuckles, in that weird way that only your father can manage at 6:00 in the morning.

-----

My mom opens the door for me as I arrive home from school. Looking at my old-man outfit (complete with briefcase. I know, don't judge), she locks the door behind me and shrugs.

"Well, better a schoolboy than a hooker, I guess."

-----

"You're wearing a tie?" My friend exclaims. "Sweeeeet, you can take me to prom then." I think she was serious.

Lesson learned: sometimes dressing like a man is cool. And sometimes it gets you prom dates and unsolicited marriage proposals. Hmmm.

P.S. My tie is purple and has frogs on it. If that doesn't scream feminine, I don't what does.

Bows in Her Hair

Hello there,

I have been really inspired by the whole 50's vibe recently; peter pan collars, feminine touches like bows or ruffles. I love it all. And really. Sometimes there is nothing better than a gigantic hair bow. Ask Minnie Mouse.

Outfit Details: bow- vintage, blouse- urban outfitters, jeans- American Eagle, shoes- ?

Je ne me soucie pas si le ciel est gris

Hello there my dear readers,
I am sorry I haven't posted in a couple of days, but I am on a vacation this week with my family. However, from here on out I will attempt to post more regularly.

Outfit Details: top- thrifted, pants- H&M, boots- ?, belt- thrifted

I have been wearing this brown leather belt essentially every day for the past week. It is the perfect belt- flexible, with enough notches to be fastened both at my hips and my waist. It adds the perfect polish to any outfit, while simultaneously holding my pants up. I highly recommend scouring your local thrift shop for a belt, it is well worth the minimal cost.

Have a lovely weekend,
Lloyd

If I Were to Build Myself a Dream House

It would look an a lot like this:

A two floor bookshelf filled with books

A view that can see for miles in every direction.

A bedroom that combines comfortable and artistic elements.

Rooms filled with airy open spaces.

And a lounge area filled with exotic pillows I've collected from my travels.

If only. The photos of this wonderful dream house in the Czech Republic were captured by the new york times. Learn more about the construction and inhabitants here.

The Wolves (Act 1 & 2)

Hello there my readers,
Anyone who hasn't heard the song my title is referencing should really look into changing that.

I give you a simple outfit, spiced up with two interesting elements: puffy sleeves and a vintage scarf. I was not so sure about the puffy sleeves of this cardigan at first, but they're highly comfortable, and they make me feel like a character in a Shakespeare play, (Which I suppose could be very good or bad depending on which character and which play.) The second item I found this past weekend at a thrift store. Rule of thumb- you can never go wrong with a good scarf.

Outfit Details: jeans- free people, shirt- borrowed, cardigan- anthropologie, scarf- thrifted, shoes- converse

Happy Monday!!!

P.s. Since I have last posted, I got bangs! I was inspired by all the other fashion bloggers out there. So what do you think? Yay? Nay?
