Are You Clothed Much?

Hello there,

I would like to introduce you all to another gorgeous, witty blogger by the name of Elaine. Elaine is the blogger behind
clothed much, a fashion blog that I visit with an almost alarming frequency. I love clothed much because of the sweet narratives and chic fashion that Elaine provides, and I can always look to her for inspiration. I love the clean cut lines and overall polished look of her outfits. I interviewed her about blogging and her fashion philosophy. Enjoy!

How long have you been blogging? I've been blogging for 8 months.

Why did you become interested in fashion? I've always been interested in fashion but never really took initiative until I discovered fashion blogs!!

How would you describe your personal style? It's so hard to describe my style because it's constantly evolving but right now, I'd say it's classic, simple, and modest with a little twist.

Are there any specific "rules" you try to follow when picking an outfit? I always make sure it is practical and comfortable for the day and that it's me.

You have a special knack for taking very simple articles of clothing and making them look very chic. What do you suggest for someone who is looking to do the same? First of all, thank you so much!! I'd say experiment! It definitely takes time to look at your wardrobe in a different light. Experiment with different prints/patterns, colors, proportions, and lengths. I look to The Sartorialist for a lot of my inspiration because he always finds details in the outfits he photographs.

Do you have a "style icon"? I don't have just one. I get inspiration from everyone!

What is one article of clothing you couldn't live without? Right now, definitely my skinny jeans!

What are your favorite blogs to follow? (fashion or otherwise) I love The Sartorialist and Give Away Today (they're always giving something away and announce the winner the very next day).

What is your favorite part of being a fashion blogger?
That I can be creative with my outfits. If I didn't have one, I'd probably wear jeans and a tshirt everyday...so tempting!

Outside the world of fashion, what do you do in your free time? Right now, I don't have that much time because of school but when I do have time, I like to read, play guitar/piano, watch movies, spend time with my husband, and I just got a sewing machine so hopefully I'll be able to make some clothes after a few trial runs!

Thanks Elaine for your lovely interview, it was a pleasure speaking to you! I look forward to seeing more of your posts in the future!

Ahh, Winter

I find it much harder to be fashionable in the winter, mainly because my survival instincts tell me to layer, layer, layer until I can't move my arms anymore, which usually leads me looking a bit like this:

Er yeah. Not so attractive. Also, I'm pretty sure my cold, cold heart slows down even more with the dropping temperatures, but that's neither here nor there and I suppose you don't really need an actual heart to have proper fashion sense. Anyway.

I am therefore looking for a coat. I am definitely a jacket person (thus the layering), but in my attempts to not freeze my rear end off while sitting in class (our entire school is like hell, but frozen over so that your snot turns into tiny icicles so the entire wffect is one of a slightly congested walrus), so I decided that it might be a good idea to invest in some warmth. I've been captivated by the mysterious appeal of a simple cape-like coat, as the unusual sleeves can take a classic black wool coat and really turn it into something unique.

Plus, I'd totally feel like a superhero. I like.

Long Division

Hello there,

This is what I wore the other day. It gave me a good excuse to wear this scarf, because it doesn't go that well with jeans or any of the other pants options that are available to me. I tried a new effect with these pictures but they ended up just looking blurry, I apologize.

On another note, if you get the change listen to the Death Cab for Cutie song Long Division. It is positively enchanting.

'Tis The Season

Hello there readers,
I sincerely apologize for my extended absence the past couple of days. The combination of thanksgiving break, and then getting hit in the face with work when I returned has totally thrown me for a loop. However I have copious amounts of photos piling up, and I promise many posts in the future.

I am entirely ensconced in the Christmas spirit at the moment. I absolutely reject any holiday music or decorations before thanksgiving, but I am ready to throw myself into the festivities the moment thanksgiving ends.

Instead of running out to the mall on Black Friday my family has a lovely tradition in that every year we go together to cut down our own Christmas tree. We go to a place called Mount Christmas Tree, which is essentially a Christmas tree farm perched on the top of a mountain. We grab a saw and trek up the mountain and start searching for the perfect tree. It has to be the right color, the right height, the right width, and without any bald spots. It often takes a while for everyone to agree on the same tree, but once we do we have to lie down on the ground and start sawing away. Everyone takes turns, although my father is always the most skilled lumberjack. We then drag the tree back down the mountain, and strap it on to our car .

The day after black Friday I went out shopping with my friend, Sylvie. I got some clothes for myself (which you will be seeing later this week) and we drank some fantastic Starbucks coffee. You know its the holidays when they release the holiday cups and the holiday lattes. (Sylvie enjoyed her usual extra chocolate chip frappechino)

I wore this fairly slapdash outfit with my new hat, which I absolutely love.

Outfit Details: hat & purple cardigan - urban outfitters, blazer- vintage, shirt & jeans- forever 21, purse- gift

Later that day my family and I erected our tree, put on some Christmas music, and got to decorating.

My dog insisted on helping.

I hope this super long post makes up for my serious lack the past couple of days!
peace out,
Lloyd

Young in Body, Just Not in Soul

A confession: I usually feel like I have "nothing to wear." I put that in quotations marks because, as some may know, there is a very fine distinction between having literally having no clothes to physically put on your (very sexy) body and scrounging around in your closet for half an hour and coming up with absolutely, positively, "nothing to wear." According to The Telegraph, women can spend almost an entire year their whole lives looking for an outfit in their own wardrobes! Eeeek!

I've definitely spent a good amount of time pondering over the apparel in my own closet and drawing a blank, which is why I've got places and people (like you dear readers!) to inspire me. I'm still in a holiday mood (coming back to school was absolutely brutal), so bear with me as I cause your servers to cry with picture overload:

For some reason, I'm always drawn to the menswear styles, even more so when it's a female wearing them. Is it any wonder I'm addicted to the Sartorialist?? :D
