Soundtrack to my Life

Hello there,
I apologize for all the indoor pictures- this whole daylight savings is really sending me for a loop pictures-wise. By the time I get home it's already dark and I am forced to move indoors.

However, I must take a moment to discuss a song that has been stuck in my head for one week at least: coffee & tv by blur. Its there whatever I am doing, and seems to just haunt me through every action. On the other hand, it can make life a little more interesting- I feel like a movie character, and this is part of my soundtrack. Not to mention that the music video, while a tad morbid, is positively adorable. It has definitely garnered a spot in my list of favorite music videos.

What would you say is your favorite music video?

The Perfect Coat

Hello there,

I have been on a coat hunt for some time now, and I finally found the perfect one. I have a winter coat for snow and such, but I needed something else for these in between months. I was being very picky because I had set my heart on a coat with toggles. I saw a them in a copy of teen vogue and decided that I had no desire for any piece of outerwear unless it had toggles. I also wanted something that was of a brown or tan color. I was finding it very difficult to find a coat of these exact specifications before I stumbled on this one in anthropologie. Perhaps there is perfection in this world.

Outfit details: jeans- american eagle, shirt- h&M, scarf- forever 21, jacket- anthropologie

And just as a side note- the jacket is made of 100% polyester. Not bunny rabbit, as it would appear.

Peace out,
Lloyd

Playing the Not-Study Game (Care to Join?)

My style is usually a slapdash effort exerted in the wee hours of morning while frantically searching for an outfit before my bus arrives (which is usually why I end up wearing nearly the same thing everyday...). My earliest memories concerning fashion revolve around this one outfit that was (to me) the coolest thing ever. Overalls. They were lime green, shorts overalls with some applique crap on the pockets. I was five and I thought I was amazing.

I can't really remember anything else fashion-related in between that time and now, but all I know now is that overalls are stupid unless you're actually on a farm and milking a cow, at which point, to be honest, no amount of appliqued flower crap can save you. I should probably get back on topic.

I'd like to think that I'm a lot more sophisticated and stylish than I was when my mother would dress me (hi, I had like, 50 different sweaters for ALL of the holidays), but it's always rather difficult to tell. Seeing as both Lloyd and I are completely overloaded with the work teachers just love to give near the end of the marking period (4 tests and counting coming up this week!!!), I'll give you some crappy snapshots of what I've been wearing essentially for essentially this entire month:

(Notice how I must cuff my jeans because I am a shorty, and logic dictates that lazy people have no business actually spending time and money to alter their clothes for aesthetic purposes. I know. I'm cool.)

It's a simple outfit, made slightly more put-together with the blazer I've been wearing essentially every day since the start of the school year. Everything I wear is really just a variation of this, which may or may not be ideal sartorially, but I say that if it works, then...

(pants and jacket - H&M, shoes - Zuriick, scarf - Burberry)

Brace yourselves for Monday :-)

Lyrics Contest

Hello there readers,
This is my first attempt at a contest, so I apologize that it is not up to par with the contests most bloggers have.

The contest is this: Below there is a wordle which contains words from an unspecified song. The larger the word is, the more often it is said in the song. The first reader to identify the song and post their answer will win (drum roll please) my grandmother's secret recipe for 1234 cake. This cake is pretty easy to make once you have all the ingredients assembled, and is great as a strawberry shortcake, or a birthday cake.

Good luck!

Variations on a Theme

Hello there,
I sincerely apologize for not posting anything this past week. I have been completely swamped with work, and I hardly had time to do anything aside from school work. However, I am back, and I promise I have many more posts coming in the future.

This outfit is simply a variation of my usual uniform- skinnies, a shirt, and a scarf. While it is not highly cutting edge in the terms of fashion, it is what suits my tastes and what I'm comfortable in. Sure, I love mixing up clothes and outfits to create different looks, but I believe everyone has their "uniform" of what is comfortable to them. I got these pants at anthropologie this past week, and in addition to having a very autumnal look, they are really comfortable. They almost feel like spandex. I look forward to pairing them with many more accessories in the future, and possibly branching out from my usual ensemble.

Do you have a certain look that you consider your "uniform" ?

peace out,
Lloyd

Bright and Early

What I've been listening to all week and a sample of what my soundtrack for getting me through this mountain of work I have:

This song always makes me a little sad, but it's very lovely. I've been up since 4:00 AM trying to get through a pile of physics work as well a Spanish essay and 20 minute oral presentation I have to memorize (!!!), but some good food and a lot of comfort music is helping me get through. Hope you have a better day than I will :-)

I don't care if Monday's blue

Hello,

I don't have much to say- today's outfit was very basic. I found these boots in my closet after having not worn them for at least 5 years. They still fit perfectly. Clearly my tastes have not changed.

In addition- I made all of the jewelry I am wearing in these photos (aside from my usual collection of bracelets). I went to craft store over the weekend and picked up some chains and various charms. Paired with hot glue, and some odds and ends I was able to create very basic, but pretty cool
necklaces and such. There are other things I made as well, which I will show you at some point in the near future.

Outfit details: shirt- urban outfitters, scarf-urban outfitters, jeans- american eagle, boots- nine west

And tomorrow is election day, go out and vote!
